When I was making my Calgary Expo graphic I saw this little guy that I drew to put on my Emerald City Comicon map. I made him a transparent PNG for you to do with as you please. 

I was going to draw Hodor and Hagrid carrying their respective semi-motionless boy-bodies around, but I decided they should be having a bit more fun.

Terry gave this to me at Emerald City Comicon this year. It’s hand painted on actual paper with REAL art supplies. I KNOW right? Terry is also the man behind THIS fan art turned guest comic. Check out his portfolio and comics HERE. 

5.     ”we learn from our mistakes” – this probably applies to you as much as the rest of us, but can you tell me what mistakes you’ve had to learn from while working in comics?

I spent the first few years of my comics career trying to be accepted to the “cool kids club.” After much heartbreak I learned two very important lessons. 1) There is no “cool kids club.” There is no secret meeting of the powerful individuals in your chosen creative field. There isn’t actually any power at all. There are cliques and groups of friends and there is some overlap, but there is no one unifying body that can welcome you into the fold. Be nice, be honest, do good work, make friends and eventually you will be the center of your own cool club. And 2) You do not need permission from anyone to be the thing you want to be. You have to give someone that power over you, and no one actually deserves it.

This interview might contain every piece of good advice that I know. I guess Im done forever. 

Long story, incredibly short: The HE Podcast is returning this week. The first new episode will be up for download (website, RSS, iTunes) on Wednesday morning. All 51 Post Shows have been moved from The Vault into the main feed. Only about 50 people have ever heard the post shows they were honestly some of our funniest stuff. Long story, somewhat long: The HE podcast went on hiatus just over a year ago. The main reason was that my co-hosts were unable to find time in their busy schedules to record. I, being the only one of us who didn’t have a “real” job, had no right to complain or insist on them giving freely of their time but once Josh and Eli both entered a “crunch” phase at their respective jobs, the frustrations of trying to schedule the show became overwhelming. You might remember that I started recording more with “The B Team” of Alex and Roger towards the end. While those guys were more accessible (and certainly entertaining and hilarious), scheduling was still an issue. I knew I wasn’t able to commit to definitely having a new episode up every week, so I decided rather than constantly making excuses I would just hang it up and shut it down.
